Howard County will host a convention on Wednesday March 20, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Wilde Lake High School. At the event, student delegates from every middle and high school will nominate two finalists for the Student Member of the Board (SMOB) position. Delegates will review the Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB) applicants and nominate the final two candidates who will run for the SMOB position.

There are several to get involved in the convention:

• Apply to serve as a student delegate. Applications are due February 23, 2024.
• Ask your principal if you can be one of the people who selects the student delegates who will represent your school at the convention.
• Serve as an engaged and informed citizen.
