Finalists Chosen for 2020-21 SMOB

Thu, 02/20/2020 - 8:50am

Joshua Drasin of Long Reach High School and Zach Koung of Howard High School were chosen as finalists to become the 2020-21 Student Member of the Board (SMOB) at the HCASC Convention, held February 18. One hundred and forty student delegates, representing middle and high schools across the Howard County Public School System, attended the convention at which 11 students competed to become finalists.

The finalists will now turn their attention to campaigning for the general election on April 22. More than 26,000 middle and high school students will have the chance to cast their vote at that time.

The new SMOB will have full status as a board member and will be eligible to vote on all issues except those pertaining to budget, personnel, or other restricted matters. Learn more about what it means to be the Student Member in this Q&A with current SMOB Alliston Alston.
